My photo
I'm a 24 year old 2009 graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi with a BA in Communications. USM is where I met Terry, the love of my life who has forever changed the path that my life will take. Terry and I recently purchased our first home in which we and our beautiful dogs (Chance and Liza) will be beginning a new chapter in our lives together! We are new to being grown ups and are learning about life as we live it. We confront every challenge head on and live the good moments to the fullest!

My future is looking so much brighter!

So, after a summer full of stress and worry things are finally looking up! I finished my class for my teaching lisence and was offered a job teaching as an English Inclusion coach at an amazing high school! I don't think that I could have imagined a better situation for a first year teaching job. I feel so lucky and blessed. I'll only be working one more week as a waitress (thank God!) and a couple more weeks as a pool attendant! I'm so excited to finally be able to put my education to good use and share my knowledge with the people who hold our future in their hands. Wish me luck! I'll be keeping you updated throughout this first year!

P.S. I bought my wedding dress! It is beautiful! I wish I could post a picture, but that would spoil it for the big day!

Giving it up to God!

I've been really stressed out lately about all kinds of things! Not getting a teaching job, not being able to start my Master's program yet, wedding planning, and a couple of other things have been driving me crazy! After many prayers for guidance and peace, I have realized that I am doing exactly what I am supposed to be doing at this time in my life. I'm only 24 years old, and really, I have a lot. I have a beautiful house, a gorgeous car, three jobs that (in combination) allow me to pay my bills and still have some freedom to do fun things. I have the most perfect fiance ever, two great dogs, and a very loving family! I am so lucky! I don't know why it took a stressful situation to make me see it. I'm giving everything up to God and I know that he will lead me in the direction that is right. For right now, I'm just thankful.

Starting the Wedding Planning!

Jade's Big Day

Jade'a Rehearsal Dinner

Batchelorette Weekend

My best friend Jade's wedding was so beautiful and we had so much fun with all of the other festivities as well! She had a great shower where she got more gifts than I could ever imagine and we threw her a great little batchelorette weekend at the beach! I am so excited for all of the new things that will be happening in her married life and I'm so glad that I get to stand next to her through all of it!

But, now that Jade's wedding and wedding festivities are over, it is time to get a move on with mine! We have about 17 months left until our big day! I know that it seems like a lot but the time is flying by so fast! I plan on starting my search for THE DRESS in the next month or so and I have finally started our wedding website. It isn't finished, but neither is planning. I'm getting excited as it is getting closer!

The Months are Flying By!

So, the last time I was able to blog, it was New Year's eve. It is now May and I am just now getting around to updating again. Man, the time sure does fly! Not many things have changed in these last five months. I've been as busy as ever working my two jobs, and Terry has been just as busy working and fishing. He claims that fishing is his second job, now that he has a commercial license. I'll start counting it as a job when I start seeing some mulah!!! Until then, he is just relaxing on the boat, doing what he loves to do! He is a lucky man!

We finally had our engagement pictures taken in January and had our engagement party in April, and it was such a blast! All of my family and his were able to come and so many family and friends contributed to making it all run smoothly for us. We had great food, great music, lots of loved ones, and everything and everyone was beautiful!

Our wedding planning is also coming along! Yay! Just less than 18 months to go! Our church is reserved and paid in full, and our reception location is booked! The more I get done, the more real it seems. I just hope that things continue to flow so easily! I'm planning on beginning my search for the gown in June, after my best friend Jade's wedding festivities are over. She deserves all of the spotlight to be on her for right now. I'll have plenty of time to hog it later!

More frequent updates to come... Enjoy the weather! It is so beautiful this time of the year.

I was so BLESSED in 2010!

Tonight is the last night of one of the best years in my life, thus far. 2010 held so many great accomplishments, memories, and special events that will change so many things in my future. Although I am super excited about the new year and all that will come with it, I almost hate to see such a good year end. I was so trully blessed in so many ways throughout this past year. Here is an extremely short recap: I was able to complete all of my prerequisits for grad school (and not go into anymore debt), Terry and I bought our first home, then we bought our first new car, then we got ENGAGED!!! I had a job and an income (not a good one but more than some) and Terry was blessed to keep the job that he loves. We are healthy and very happy, and so are our dogs. I've made new friends, kept in touch with old ones, and learned to give a little more of myself and my time to all of them. Terry and I have traveled, camped, canoed, and vacationed in new places including New York City! We've spent time with our families and watched it expand (our beautiful Goddaughter Samantha was born and we've just found out that she will be a big sister in 2011) and worked on creating and bettering our own. We have been able to add things to our home (a fence, deck, shed, etc) to make ourselves and our dogs more comfortable, which is something that we weren't sure would all get done this year. We have been so lucky and we are so grateful. We've cherished our time and experiences that this year has provided us with and we are excited to do the same throughout 2011!

Thank you God for blessing us with such a full life.

I'll miss you 2010! You were great to me!

My first time to be a Christmas Hostess!

My mom and dad and Terry's mom waiting on Christmas dinner!

The first Christmas dinner that I've ever cooked!

I've always loved family gatherings and all of the food, gossip, and memories that come with them. I look forward to holidays and birthdays and any other day that gives me an excuse to have company over or go to visit my family. So this year, since Terry had to work on Christmas day, it is our first Christmas in our new house, and we are FINALLY engaged, I decided that with so many things to celebrate I would host a big Christmas dinner a couple of days early for both of our families at our house. I was super excited but also had no clue where to begin the preparations! We got a really late start and were rushed to get everything cleaned and cooked, but I am so proud to say that everything turned out just fine! We all ate well, had great conversation, received unexpected and much appreciated gifts, and our families got to know each other a little bit better. It was an overall success and I can't wait to do it again next year!

However, I did learn a couple of lessons throughout the whole thing:

#1- I never knew how hard my granny worked to make those years of family gatherings happen!

#2- Prepare the food more than one hour before you are expecting your company!

#3- Without a great partner and helper (like Terry) you will probably be S.O.L.

Big News!!!

After a failed promise that I would update my posts more often, it is now time for another catch up session! First, let me say that the whole flirt with veganism thing was extremely successful for a whole month! Yes, one single month! I really felt great and could really feel the benefits of doing away with animal products. However, it also made me realize my true love for cheese and chicken! I just couldn't go on without it in my life! So, I learned some valuable lessons about food, expanded my food horizon, and moved on.

Next, for the big news... Terry finally proposed!!! On November 3, 2010, at 8:31 PM, Terry finally made the big move! I came home from work, after a horrible day, to a house filled with yellow roses, rose petals, candles, and champagne! I thought that he was just trying to make my day end better than it started by being sweet, but when I demanded that he open the champagne (I don't know how) he said, "hold on, I have one more thing for you" and of course I was NOT EVEN thinking of a ring. All signs pointed to it but I was oblivious! So even when he pulled out the most perfect little gold box with the most perfect little white bow on top, I had no clue. My brain was just static. Then, he opened the box to show the actual ring box! I bursted into tears and cried for approximately fifteen minutes, screaming "YES!" somewhere between the sobs! The ring is beautiful, of course, and I am looking forward to our life to come! We will be getting married on November 3, 2012! Exactly two years from the day he proposed! I'm officially the future Mrs. Terry Boyd!
